Adventures

We will build your custom guided adventure tour based on what you’d like to do and see, your budget, and how much time you want to spend. Pricing for some basic tour types are as follows, but all tours are customizable.

Guided adventuresHalf day (4 hours) @ $400

Full day (8+ hours) @ $800

1-3 people, plus $50 per additional person above 3

All adventures can include any combination of driving, hiking, snowshoeing, and/or cross-country skiing. They can also include guided walks around various attractions, both inside and outside the borders of Yellowstone National Park.

We will work with you to learn as much as we can about your interests and priorities, and will make suggestions for you. Some examples of things to do:

  • Spend a guided day exploring Yellowstone, seeing the sights, looking for wildlife, and learning about the history, ecology, and geology of the park.
  • Stroll around the geyser basins in Yellowstone.
  • Explore the historic town of Mammoth, including Fort Yellowstone, and the Mammoth hot springs.
  • Explore the rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, seeing its two iconic waterfalls, and perhaps even descend into the canyon.
  • Hike a trail that has been called one of the ten best hikes in the world!
  • Explore the part of Yellowstone outside of the gates on a hike into the remote wilderness and beauty of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
  • Visit the shore of a scenic lake, where obsidian and other volcanic rocks are easily found. Also stop by an old fire tower nearby, where you will see scenic views and – in the right season – wildflowers.
  • Explore Earthquake Lake, created by a major earthquake in 1959, and visit the Earthquake Lake Visitor Center.
  • Travel through a pass in the Madison range to see Three Dollar Bridge, Cliff and Wade Lakes, and end the day with a drink at Willie’s Distillery in Ennis.
  • Visit the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center, just outside the west gate to Yellowstone, for an up-close view of bears, wolves, otters, and various raptors.
  • Ride the Big Sky Resort ski lifts up Lone Mountain and Andesite for scenic views, and either ride or hike back down.
  • Go on a scenic drive down a forest service road with a great view of the mountains and a chance for wildlife sightings.

These are just a few examples of the many opportunities for fun you have available to you! We will help you to determine an optimal itinerary for your group.

What you will need to bring

There are some basics you’ll need to be sure to bring with you for any trip to this area.

  • Good shoes
    • If hiking, wear wool socks and a good pair of comfortable shoes or boots.
  • Layers!
    • No matter what time of year you visit, layers of clothing you can add or remove are crucial. Even in the summer, mornings can be in the 40s or 50s (in degrees Fahrenheit), while afternoons can be in the 80s or 90s.
  • Sun protection
    • Long sleeves/pants, sunscreen, hat, etc. The sun is powerful out here!
  • Rain gear
    • Rain can spring up out of nowhere, so having a raincoat and rain pants available is important.
  • Snowshoes or skis
    • We have a selection of snowshoes you can borrow. Ski rentals are available in Big Sky, and we can reserve them for you.
  • For any children under 60 lbs, you will need to bring a car seat.
